Last week, I volunteered as a senior camp counselor at the American Diabetes Association's Camp Discovery. The camp's theme was Superheroes! The campers learned that they are superheroes because they fought against villains such as the Carb Cruncher. We also had a special visitor. Charlie Kimball, a diabetic Indy 500 driver, talked about his experience with diabetes and helped the kids decorate race cars. Of course, the week is not complete without a day of mini golf. This week is always so rewarding for me. I love bringing smiles to the campers' faces and helping them learn about their diabetes. I can't wait to volunteer again next year!
